Description

Is there anything worse than having sore feet when playing hockey? Tying hockey skates correctly is important to ensure a good fit and prevent the skates from causing discomfort or pain. Here are some steps for tying hockey skates in a way that provides a comfortable and secure fit:

  1. Pull up your sock properly so that it lies smoothly all the way.
  2. Place your foot in the skate and pull the tongue/insert so that it lies flat over your foot.

  3. Start lacing from the bottom at the toe and tighten the laces evenly on each side so that the skate hugs your foot properly without being too tight.

  4. Continue lacing upwards with a criss-cross pattern, crossing the laces over each other to create an even and secure fit. Tighten the laces evenly on both sides.

  5. When you reach the ankle, avoid tightening the laces too much, as this can cause discomfort and reduce mobility in your foot.

  6. When you reach the top of the skate, tie a secure knot to keep the lacing in place. You can also use a double knot for extra security. If the skate laces are too long, they can be cut and the ends melted together.

  7. Stand up and walk around in the skates to check the fit. They should sit comfortably around your foot without being too tight or too loose. If you experience discomfort or pain, you can adjust the lacing to improve the fit.

It's important to note that everyone's feet are different and it may take some experimenting to find the best lacing method and fit for your feet. Using the right technique to tie hockey skates and adjusting the lacing as needed can contribute to a comfortable and secure fit during play and practice.
